The Rick Case Arena at the Don Taft University Center was completed in August of 2006. The revolutionary 366,000 square-foot, multi-use facility serves as a central hub for the Nova Southeastern student community. The main arena, which seats up to 4,500 spectators, is the home to numerous NSU intercollegiate athletic programs, including volleyball, as well as men's and women's basketball. With one main game court, the arena has two practice/game-ready auxiliary courts on the upper level.
The main court provides over 1,000 permanent chair-back seats, while the upper level has over 3,000 automated telescopic chair-back seats when fully extended. The main arena also features 66 cushioned club seats overlooking the court, just outside of the donor/booster club room. Shark Club members and guests can enjoy the comforts of a catered suite and a unique baseline view of the court.
The facility also has a fitness and wellness center that houses 98 pieces of StarTrac cardiovascular equipment and 84 pieces of StarTrac strength equipment. There is also a two-court multipurpose gym, three indoor racquetball courts, one convertible squash court, an outdoor swimming pool (heated for the winter months), an Indoor 27-foot rock climbing wall and three multipurpose studios for group exercise and martial arts.
Despite the many flat-panel TVs and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the campus, there is one view that’s even more impressive: that of the three-story-tall, undersea mural, hand-painted by marine artist Guy Harvey, spanning the length of a football field along the center’s central atrium.
The Rick Case Arena at the Don Taft University Center has also played host to many events since its opening in August 2006. Below are a list of a few events from this past year.
-Dwyane Wade Celebrity Sports Academy
-Harlem Globetrotters
-Tiffany Haddish
-Florida State Power Lifting Championships
